Sulfur and sodium sulfacetamide, a sulfur derivative, have been used topically to treat rosacea symptoms (see Anti-Inflammatory Topicals). Often combined together in topical preparations, sulfur and sodium sulfacetamide have antibiotic, antifungal and anti-inflammatory qualities. Many rosaceans find these products to be helpful in controlling their rosacea and seborrheic dermatitis symptoms, while others find sulfur based topicals too irritating.
